About Mecanica Pedrosa

Our shop was started in Santa Clara, Cuba in 1949 by Orestes Pedrosa, until 1961 when Fidel Castro’s communist regime took over. Devastated, Pedrosa took refuge in New Jersey with his family where he worked hard and made important contacts which would later on help him start another machine shop. Resistance to cold weather made him seek the warmer climate and island similarity of Cuba in Puerto Rico.

Once again with arduous work and insatiable tenacity he established his engine rebuilding and sale of engine parts business. In the 1960’s & 70’s it was hard finding readily available engine components on the island. These were brought in by ocean freight taking up to months for arrival and clearing duties. In order for him to have parts ready for the next engine in the door he stocked engine components of all kind brought in from the U.S. and Europe from Acura to White. He used to say: “You never know what engine is coming in the door next”.

Thus Mecanica Pedrosa was his pride and joy from 1965 till his death in 2007, leaving a legacy of experienced machinists he taught plus a vast stock of quality engine parts found no where else.
